Water Environ and Ecology

Studying the transfer, transformation, and biogeochemical cycling processes of water and pollutants on a watershed level; exploring the mechanisms of reducing pollutants from sources and purifying them in the transport processes; evaluating the effects of varying pollutant loadings on the aquatic ecosystems. Studying the structure of land/water ecotones (wetlands), and their function as a protective zone for waters, as well as their roles in purifying pollutants. Researching and developing the ecological engineering technologies with high performance based on the above studies.

● Transfer and transformation of pollutants in ecosystems and their effects on the receiving water quality;

● Mechanisms and controlling technologies of urban and rural diffuse pollution;

● Structure, function, and material cycling of land/water ecotones (wetlands);

● Mechanisms and assessment of lake eutrophication;

● Principles and application of ecological engineering technologies used in water source protection.
